The very beginning

Patrice Brunet becomes a member of the Quebec Bar.

May 1993

Birth of the firm

The firm opened on Berri Street in Montreal. It has relocated several times since then and is now located in the Outremont neighborhood.

1995

Lawyer and arbitrator

Patrice Brunet is appointed as an accredited arbitrator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Immigration

The firm expands its expertise to business immigration.

Patrice Brunet is the founder and managing partner of Patrice Brunet Avocats. For over 30 years, he has focused his practice on his two passions: immigration and sports. He assists companies seeking to recruit foreign workers, as well as individuals aspiring to obtain temporary or permanent residency and Canadian citizenship. A recognized expert in sports law, Brunet is also a respected arbitrator in this field. Additionally, as a skilled communicator, he is frequently invited by the media to comment on current issues related to immigration and sports law.

Vincent Dubuc-Cusick
Lawyer, business immigration, and sports law

Vincent Dubuc-Cusick practices within our group as a business immigration lawyer. Known for his rigor and strong availability, he develops creative strategies for obtaining work permits, permanent residence applications, and family reunification procedures. Having also practiced business law, he brings his experience to both corporate and individual clients, with the goal of helping these individuals or their employees settle in Quebec or other Canadian provinces. He also practices U.S. immigration law, supported by our of-counsel lawyer.

Vincent also practices sports law, where he provides services to both athletes and federations, before various sports judicial bodies. Versatile, he works on cases involving doping, harassment, athlete contracts, and national team selection.

Fluent in both French and English, Vincent Dubuc-Cusick practices law in both languages.

Rosalie Caillé-Lévesque is a lawyer specializing in humanitarian immigration cases. Fatima-Zahra Lahlou is an Articling Student at Patrice Brunet Avocats, where she focuses her practice on sports law and immigration law.
Passionate about sport, she has a strong interest in issues of integrity, governance, and international regulation in disciplinary and sports arbitration proceedings, as well as in advising athletes and sports organizations.
She began her career as a paralegal at a Montreal law firm before pursuing legal studies within a civil law and mixed legal system framework. She completed her legal education at the Université de Montréal (by equivalency) and at Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. During her studies, she also worked at a Montreal-based startup, where she led the legal department and contributed to file management and regulatory compliance matters.
She is trilingual in French, English, and Arabic, with working proficiency in Spanish, and is comfortable operating in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.

Wilfrid (the one with the tie) was born in September 2020, and his name is inspired by the Honourable Wilfrid Laurier, and also the name of the avenue where our firm is located. His contagious good mood makes him a cherished companion for the team. His owner is Patrice.

Céleste (right) was born in June 2022, and her name is inspired by Céleste, the wife of Babar and Queen of the Elephants. Her comforting presence brings a sense of calm to the workplace. Her owner is Florent.

Rocky (middle) was born in May 2018, and his name is inspired by the Rocky Mountain horse breed. A retired Mira guide dog, he now enjoys his retirement by spending some days at PBA. His calm demeanor and experience bring a reassuring presence to the team. His owner is Vincent.
